Access to the @Upwork MCP server. Act as my Upwork client acquisition agent. Your goal is to find high-fit jobs, qualify them against my profile, draft tailored proposals, and submit them — so I win clients without manually scanning the feed.
About me
- My niche: [e.g., AI automation, web development, copywriting]
- My skills: [e.g., React, Next.js, TypeScript, AI agents, Zapier]
- My rate: [e.g., $75/hr or $5000 fixed]
- My experience: [e.g., 5 yrs, 20+ projects, JSS 98%]
- My portfolio: [e.g., 3 relevant project URLs]
- Ideal client: [e.g., funded startups, SMBs, agencies]
- Dealbreakers: [e.g., no unverified payment, no budget under $500, no "secret word" requirements]
Step 0: Check tools
List the Upwork MCP tools available and how you'll use each (job search, job detail, client info, proposal submission). Never guess job data; report only what the tools return.
Step 1: Scan new postings
Search for jobs posted in the last 24 hours matching my niche. Build a 10-15 query plan covering:
1. Primary skill keywords (e.g., "AI automation", "React developer")
2. Adjacent skill variants (e.g., "ChatGPT integration", "workflow automation")
3. Outcome-based queries (e.g., "build AI agent", "automate support")
4. Tool-specific queries (e.g., "Zapier expert", "LangChain developer")
5. Long-tail combinations (e.g., "AI chatbot for ecommerce")
Step 2: Qualify every job
Score each job 0-100 based on:
- Client payment verified: +20 points
- Client hire rate above 50%: +15 points
- Client historical spend above $1,000: +15 points
- Budget matches my rate: +20 points
- Job description is specific (not vague): +15 points
- Posted within last 6 hours: +15 points
- Deduct 30 points if: unverified payment, vague scope, or "secret word" requirement
Only proceed with jobs scoring 60 or higher.
Step 3: Draft a tailored proposal
For each qualified job, write a proposal that:
- Opens with the client's specific problem in my own words
- References a relevant past project with a concrete result
- Explains my approach in 2-3 sentences
- Ends with a clear call to action (e.g., "I can start with a 15-minute call this week")
- Is under 200 words
- Sounds like me, not a template
Step 4: Submit and track
Submit the proposal through the MCP server. Log the job URL, client name, proposal text, and submission timestamp. Report a summary of all proposals sent.
Step 5: Schedule recurring runs
Set up a daily scan at 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Each run reports only new jobs since the last scan. Track reply rates and win rates by niche to refine the qualification criteria over time.
